Introduction
Shi Shi Beach is a hidden and breathtaking beach in Washington State’s Olympic National Park. A 2-mile route leads to it from the Makah Indian Reservation. Shi Shi Beach is the go-to place for anybody who is seeking a genuine Pacific Northwest beauty spot because of its amazing tide pools and rustic beach camping.

It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Washington Coast, this stretch of sand features tide pools and sea stacks. Travel to Point of Arches to experience the wild and rain-swept beaches of the Olympic Peninsula. Some consider this photogenic spot to be one of the best in the state. Camping Shi Shi Beach
To camp at Shi Shi Beach, you will need both a Makah Recreation Pass and a Wilderness Permit, as overnight stays require these permits due to the area being part of the Olympic National Park. The Shi Shi Beach hike can easily be done in a day or you can camp in one of multiple campsites along the beach or inland a bit in the forest. There are three main areas to camp at Shi Shi Beach: the forest area near where the trail first hits the beach, Petroleum Creek, and Willoughby Creek. I’d suggest skipping the forested campsites where you initially descend to the beach. They lack a water source and tend to get quite busy from foot traffic.
Shi Shi Beach Trail
Shi ShiBeach Trail is an 8-mile round trip out-and-back trail located near Neah Bay, Washington. It is generally considered a moderately challenging hike that features beautiful scenery, including tide pools and sea stacks, leading to the Point of Arches. This trail can be completed in a day but is also suitable for backpacking trips. A muddy, 2-mile hike through the Makah Reservation forestry leads you to the Olympic National Park boundary and Shi Shi Beach.
Shi Shi Beach Trailhead
The Shi Shi trailhead is located near Neah Bay, Washington. The hike is an 8-mile (12.9 km) round-trip trail that starts on the Makah Reservation and extends into Olympic National Park, so both permits are required. From the main trailhead, the trail carves through the forest for about 2.3 miles before you emerge onto the beach. From there, you’ll be walking on the sand to your campsite.
Hike to Shi Shi beach
The Shi Shi Beach trail is one of the easier backpacking routes. The hike is less than 10 miles long with about 600 feet of elevation gain, so it’s fairly easy. The trail does have some inconvenient obstacles, which I’ll get into, but overall, you should be able to get to camp fairly quickly. The trail kicks off at the private lot and stretches along the road for 0.5 miles until it reaches the main trailhead.

Shishi Beach has a warm and temperate climate with significant rainfall throughout the year. Summers are hot, oppressive, and mostly cloudy, while winters are short, cold, and mostly clear. The best time to visit for beach activities is typically when the weather is clear. Shortly, it is enjoyable to visit in any season of the year.

The waves in the area can grow harder along the coast, especially at low tide, and there are several rocks to be aware of. If you want to come, make sure you have a Makah reserve pass in addition to the necessary National Park permit.

Hoh National Forest One of the park’s most visited locations is the Hoh, one of the best-surviving examples of temperate rainforests in the United States. Northwest Washington’s Hoh Rain Forest is located in Olympic National Park’s northwest section. It’s raining here. In a jungle, “wet” is an understatement. In addition, One of the largest temperate rainforests in America, the Hoh Rain Forest offers a tranquil nature escape surrounded by lush greenery and old-growth trees.
