Lake View Park Islamabad Overview
LakeView Park sits on the eastern bank of Rawal Lake on Murree Road in Islamabad, managed by the Capital Development Authority. It is one of the most visited recreational sites in the capital and one of the few places in Islamabad that combines a wildlife park, an amusement area, adventure facilities, and lakeside greenery in a single complex. The entry fee of PKR 20 per person makes it one of the most affordable days out available anywhere in Islamabad. The Main Park covers the core recreational area with gardens, picnic lawns, the bird aviary, boating, and the children’s play zones. F1 Traxx houses the go-karting track and associated amusement rides. Ibex Club provides adventure sports facilities, including rock climbing and horse riding. Battlefield Islamabad runs the paintball arena. Each section has its own separate pricing for activities beyond the main entry ticket. On a weekday morning, the park is calm enough to feel like a private garden. On a Friday or Saturday evening, it is one of the busiest places in the city. It is one of the most visited Parks in Islamabad.

The bird aviary, rides, and most activity areas operate within the standard opening hours, though specific attractions may have shorter individual operating windows. Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest periods, with peak crowds arriving between 4 PM and 7 PM. Arriving right at 10 AM gives the best experience for the bird aviary in particular, when the birds are most active, and the walkways are uncrowded. Visiting after 8 PM on a weekday is another option for a quiet lakeside evening without the afternoon rush.

For families planning to visit multiple paid attractions, budgeting PKR 500 to PKR 1,500 per person comfortably covers a full day.
Lake View Park Bird Aviary

The bird aviary at LakeView Park is the third-largest walk-in aviary in the world and the largest in Pakistan. Inaugurated in 2013, it covers 3.8 acres and stands 80 feet high, housing approximately 4,000 birds from around 300 different species. Walking through it feels genuinely different from a standard zoo visit because the birds are not in cages. You are inside their space, not looking in from outside. The species range from small pigeons, doves, and parrots to peacocks, pheasants, cranes, and ostriches. The variety within a single walk is genuinely impressive and the aviary conditions are well maintained. Bird activity is highest in the morning hours between 10 AM and noon before the midday heat slows things down. Taking time in the aviary rather than rushing through it is worthwhile, as you notice different species at different levels of the structure.
LakeView Park Rides
F1 Traxx and Go-Karting
2F2F Go-Kart Track
The go-karting facility at Lake View Park is operated by the 2F2F Formula Karting Club and features Pakistan’s largest international standard go-kart track. The asphalt circuit runs 1.2 kilometres and accommodates both beginners and experienced drivers. The fleet includes high-performance Sodi LR5 and Sodi RX8 karts with 390cc engines capable of reaching speeds up to 100 km/h. This is a serious track by regional standards, and the experience is noticeably more professional than the typical go-karting setup found at other Pakistani amusement venues.
Motion Ride and 4D Cinema
The Motion Ride is a 4D cinematic experience that combines 3D visuals with physical seat movement and environmental effects to create an immersive ride. It is operated by IA Entertainments and uses a large screen projection system that puts riders inside the action. The experience runs for several minutes and is popular with both children and adults. The combination of the visual and physical effects makes it one of the more distinctive attractions in the park for visitors who want something beyond standard outdoor activities.
Other Rides
The main park area also contains a range of traditional amusement rides, including bumper cars, a carousel, a Ferris wheel, a pirate ship, and swing rides. These are well-suited for families with younger children and run throughout standard park hours. The combination of these rides with the go-karting track at F1 Traxx means the park covers both gentle family entertainment and more serious motorsport activity within the same complex.
Bhoot Bangla
The Bhoot Bangla horror house is part of the M1 Traxx entertainment section near Lake View Park. It is a walk-through haunted experience designed for older children and adults. The attraction is popular during evening hours and tends to draw longer queues on weekends. Visiting earlier in the day means shorter waiting times if this is specifically on your list.
LakeView Park Boating

Rawal Lake borders the park directly, and boating is one of the most popular activities, particularly on clear days when the Margalla Hills are reflected in the water. Boat rides on Rawal Lake give views of both the park and the hills that are not accessible from land. The lakeside area within the park is one of the best spots for photography in Islamabad, with the combination of the water, the hills, and the park greenery in the same frame. Rawal Lake is a reservoir, and swimming is not permitted due to safety and water quality considerations. The boating experience is the appropriate way to engage with the lake, and the boat ride duration gives enough time to take in the views at a pace that walking along the bank does not.
Battlefield Islamabad
Battlefield Islamabad is the paintball facility within the Lake View Park complex, known for a professionally run arena with safety protocols and experienced staff. Paintball is generally safe when proper equipment and instructions are followed, and the Battlefield team maintains a reputation for ensuring participants are briefed properly before play. The facility accommodates groups of varying sizes and is a popular option for corporate outings, birthday groups, and friend gatherings. Minor bruises and welts are a normal part of paintball, and visitors should wear appropriate clothing. Centaurus Mall is another famous spot in the capital to visit.
Ibex Club — Adventure Sports
Rock Climbing
The Ibex Club section of the complex houses rock climbing facilities that give visitors a structured introduction to the activity in a supervised environment. The climbing wall accommodates different difficulty levels, making it accessible to beginners while still offering something for those with more experience. It is one of the activities that sees lower visitor numbers relative to the main attractions, which means shorter waiting times for those specifically interested.
Horse Riding
Horse riding is available within the park and is particularly popular with children. The horses are handled by experienced staff and rides are conducted within designated areas of the park. The activity is an accessible option for visitors who want something different from the standard amusement park attractions and fits well into a family day visit alongside the bird aviary and lakeside activities.
Lake View Park Swimming Pool
A swimming pool is available within the Lake View Park complex. Visitors planning to use the pool should confirm current operating hours and any dress code requirements at the entrance. The pool availability changes with seasons and it is worth checking ahead for visits during winter months when it may operate on reduced hours.
Lake View Park Restaurants and Food
Several food options operate within and immediately adjacent to the park. The park itself has refreshment stalls and cafes throughout the main area selling snacks, beverages, and light meals. The Dera Restaurant near the park is well known for traditional Pakistani food, including curries, kebabs, and biryani, and is a popular option for families wanting a proper meal as part of the outing. Engineer’s Spicy near the park covers desi and Chinese cuisine with a wide menu including tandoori chicken, fish tikka, and chowmein. Rajpoot Brothers is another nearby option for standard Pakistani food. The variety of options within walking distance means food is not a concern for any length of visit, and the park’s internal stalls handle shorter snack and drink requirements throughout the day.
LakeView Park Location and Directions

Lake View Park is located on Murree Road next to Malpur village of Bharakhu in Islamabad. The park sits directly on the eastern bank of Rawal Lake, and the Margalla Hills form the backdrop visible from most of the park’s open areas. The location is easily accessible from Islamabad via Murree Road and from Rawalpindi via the Kashmir Highway, which connects to Murree Road near the park. Driving from Islamabad city centre takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. The park has a spacious parking area that accommodates large numbers of vehicles, though it fills during peak weekend evenings and may require some waiting time during the busiest periods. Uber and Careem both service the park entrance directly. Public transport from multiple Islamabad sectors connects to the Murree Road corridor and the park is a well-known stop for local bus routes. Shahdara Valley Islamabad is another top spot to visit with family and friends.
Events at LakeView Park
The park functions as one of Islamabad’s main venues for outdoor events throughout the year. Spring hosts flower exhibitions and family fairs that draw particularly large crowds. Bird shows run periodically within the aviary. National holiday celebrations bring special programming, and the festival arena is used for cultural and musical events. The PakWheels Islamabad Auto Show has been held at the 2F2F Karting area, showcasing vintage, luxury, and modified vehicles. Upcoming events are announced through the park’s official channels and local event listings.
My Personal Experience at LakeView Park

I have visited Lake View Park more times than I can count accurately. It’s one of those Islamabad places that becomes a default when someone visits from out of town, and you need somewhere that covers everything in one location. The bird aviary is the part I always end up spending longer in than planned. There is something about the scale of it that still gets me, even after multiple visits. Standing in the middle of 4,000 birds in an 80-foot-high open structure with the Margalla Hills visible through the netting is a genuinely unusual experience. The go-karting track is the best in Pakistan by a significant margin. The Sodi karts at 2F2F are a proper machine, not the slow bumper-car-style karts you find at most Pakistani amusement parks. In addition, if you have any interest in motorsport, even casually, the track at Lake View Park is worth the time.

Best Time to Visit LakeView Park
Spring, from March to May, is the best season overall. The weather is mild, the park’s flower gardens are at their most colourful, and the outdoor activities are comfortable throughout the day. Autumn, from September to November, is equally good with clear skies and pleasant temperatures. Summer mornings and evenings are enjoyable, but the midday heat between 12 PM and 4 PM makes outdoor activity uncomfortable. Winter is manageable for the bird aviary and lakeside activities, but the pool and some outdoor rides operate on reduced schedules. For weekday visits, arriving at 10 AM gives the best combination of active bird aviary, uncrowded walking areas, and available seating near the lake. Faisal Mosque is also considered the most luxurious spot to visit in Islamabad.
